Dr. Wun Chao介绍:

Dr. Chao got his PhD at the University of California, Riverside, California in 1996 and had 3-year postdoctoral training at the Washington State University, Pullman, Washington. Dr. Chao had been a Research Molecular Geneticist of the USDA-ARS Sunflower and Plant Biology Research Unit in Fargo, North Dakota from 1999 until his retirement in August 2023. Dr. Chao had been actively engaged in dormancy research on an invasive weed, leafy spurge, for 16 years. Leafy spurge is an invasive perennial weed. The dormancy of the root and crown buds serves as a survival mechanism and makes this weed a persistent problem in the U.S. and Canada; his research focused on investigating the molecular regulation of bud arrest and growth of the leafy spurge. Since 2015, his research had been involved in Brassicaceae oilseed crops and cover crops, investigating the physiological and molecular mechanisms for the cold tolerance traits and identifying signals and biological mechanisms associated with crop/weed interactions. Dr. Chao’s expertise is in the areas of gene regulation, plant development, and plant molecular biology.
